Choosing Your First Boat

For most new sailors, the DF65 and DF95 classes provide an excellent starting point. Both are affordable one-design classes with active fleets, straightforward setup and plenty of experienced club members ready to help.

Good to know

You do not need to buy a boat before visiting. Contact the club and arrange to attend a sailing day to see the classes in action.

What You Will Need

  • A class-compliant radio yacht
  • A reliable transmitter and charged batteries
  • A simple tool kit and spare rigging items
  • Comfortable outdoor clothing and sun protection

Your First Sailing Day

Arrive early enough to meet the race team, prepare your boat and complete a radio check. Club members can help with launch settings, sail trim and the basic right-of-way rules before racing begins.
